REVELATION BREEDS INTERCESSION

Before you add Scriptures to your book, remember it is important that the Scriptures you choose have revelation for you. They must be forged within you in the midst of relationship with God. This is so important. Let me share a story to illustrate this point.

We live in South Florida, where the drivers are horrendous. The roads are not a safe place for beginners. Because of this, when our son turned thirteen, we allowed him to start driving our car in parking lots. We wanted him to have a good feel for the car before he actually began driving on the roads. This turned out to be a good strategy. When he got his license, he was a good driver.

One day he and some friends took our car to a ball game after school. He was driving in the right lane, with a large semi-truck at the stoplight in the center lane ahead of him on a six-lane street. The light turned just as he reached the back of the truck. He let off the brakes and began to accelerate again, going about 15-20 mph. Just as he got to the front of the truck, a boy riding a bike across all six lanes ran into the front of our son’s car. He was totally in our son’s blind spot because of the location of the truck. The boy on the bike went flying fifteen feet in the air, and when he came down, his head hit the hood of the car and then the pavement. Our son jumped out of his car, ran to the boy, called 911, and then called our house—which was located about ten blocks away.

Our daughter answered the phone and came running from the house to get me. I was pressure-washing the driveway. As she ran to the car, I heard her yell that there had been an accident and the boy who was hit was not moving. I dropped the pressure washer and ran to our car with words flowing from my mouth based on Scriptures from my book: “You will live and not die. I place you under the covenant of the blood of Jesus. I claim you as my child. You will have the blessings and covering of my home and the blood of Jesus.”

My daughter and I jumped in the car and raced to the scene. I ran to my son, saw he was physically okay, then ran to the injured boy all the while quoting Scripture and speaking the promises of God over him. I prayed that the paramedics would not miss anything, that all things would be revealed to them, and that they would be led by the wisdom and the anointing of God. I continued to speak to the injured child, telling him that he was under the covering of my house as my son through spiritual adoption. The paramedics, thinking I was his mother because they heard me claiming him as my son, pushed everyone back except me.
